Chemists study substances and the way they react with each other.  They use this knowledge to develop new materials and products.  They test the quality of food products and manufactured goods and analyze environmental samples.  They work for agricultural, food, industrial, and pharmaceutical companies, as well as for government agencies and  academic institutions.

GHC offers the first two years of courses required to earn a bachelors degree in chemistry at many public and private four-year colleges and universities in Washington state. During their time at GHC, students should contact the institution to which they plan to transfer, because degree requirements vary and sometimes change. An academic advisor will help each student select GHC courses that will meet degree requirements at GHC and at transfer institutions.
