Human
Anatomy and Physiology I, II
(Biology 208/209)

Prerequisites for
Biology 208 (Human Anatomy and Physiology I):
· The prerequisite for Biology
208 is a grade of C or better in Biology 160 (formerly called Biology 101) or
Biology 201 or instructor permission,
· High school biology does not serve as a prerequisite for this course.
·
Students planning to take Anatomy and Physiology I should take Biology 160
during fall quarter or earlier.
Prerequisite for Biology 209 (Human
Anatomy and Physiology II):
· The prerequisite for Biology 209 is a grade of C or better in Biology 208 (or instructor permission,)

Required text and other materials for 2008:
· Anatomy and Physiology
with Anatomy and Physiology Place CD, 3rd edition, 2007, by Elaine N.
Marieb. Benjamin Cummings,
· InterActive Physiology 9 System Suite CD-ROM with the following programs: Muscular System, Nervous System I, Nervous System II, Cardiovascular System, Endocrine System, Respiratory System, Urinary System, Fluid, Electrolyte, & Acid/Base Balance and Digestive System.
· ADAM Interactive Anatomy CD-ROM and ADAM Interactive Anatomy 4 Student Lab Guide by Lafferty & Panella, Benjamin Cummings.
·· The items listed above are sold as a "bundle" at the College bookstore and will be used both quarters.
· H ITT transmitter. Buy this separately. There are two kinds of transmitters. One is the infrared transmitter that we have been using for several years and the other is a radio frequency transmitter. The radio transmitter costs more but it is easier to use and more accurate. I’ll leave it up to you which one to buy; either will work for us.
· 9-volt battery for your transmitter. I know the 9-volt works for the infrared transmitters and I think it also works for the radio transmitters. I have emailed the company that makes these and will let you know for sure.
· A box of colored pencils.
· A red/blue colored pencil (these have red lead on one end and blue lead on the other (no eraser.)
· Several regular pencils with clean erasers.
· A flat folder for turning in lab assignments.
· Optional (but recommended by past students) is Cliffs Quick Review for Anatomy and Physiology or another Anatomy/Physiology outline series. Some students also like flash cards.
Day classes begin Monday, April 6, '08. Be present at the first class or risk losing
your seat in the classes; there are generally people on the wait lists.
There will be lab the first week.
