Human Anatomy & Physiology I
Study Guide
Chapter 9- Muscle Tissue
After completing this chapter, you should have mastered the objectives listed below.
1. You will need your Interactive Physiology CD for this chapter.
· The Interactive Physiology CD program titled The Muscular System is the focus of your study for this material.
· Download* and complete the 6 worksheets (Assignments) that accompany the muscle program.
· Do the programs in the following order:
1. Anatomy Review,
2. Neuromuscular Junction,
3. Sliding Filament Theory,
4. Muscle Metabolism,
5. Contraction of Motor Units,
6. Contraction of Whole Muscle.· Also download and complete the Exercise Sheets for muscles. Complete these worksheets after you have studied the material and gone through the CD and assignment worksheets..
· You will not turn in these worksheets. In fact, I will not even know if you actually did them. However, lectures and testing will be based on information presented on the CD and the worksheets.
· There are clicker quizzes listed for this material. Check the calendar.
· After completing this material, you should have mastered the goals listed at the beginning of each of the six topics of the muscle program and have correctly answered the questions at the end of each worksheet.
· Be sure that you do the quizzes that accompany each topic.
· Don't wait until the last minute to do the CD. You will need more than the weekend before the test.
· Some material presented in Chapter 9 is not on the CD. Don't worry about it. Testing will be based on the CD, not the textbook. Your textbook is for backup and clarification of the material presented on the CD.
2. Do the Multiple Choice/Matching at the end of the chapter.
3. Visit the Anatomy and
I will rely on lectures, labs and any or all of the above material when testing on this chapter.
****** Optional - check the video list for relevant videos on
reserve at the GHC Library.
*about downloading the worksheets which accompany the CD program:
1. Boot up Interactive Physiology.
2. Do the “Browser Tuneup.”
3. Click “Enter.”
4. At the top of the “Welcome” page click on “Worksheets.”
5. There are two kinds of worksheets (Exercise Sheets and Assignments). Download the three Exercise Sheets and 6 Assignments for muscles.
6. Notice that the six Assignments have the same titles as the six Interactive Physiology programs listed at the beginning of this sheet. Use them along with the CD in the order I have listed at the beginning of this sheet.
The Exercise Sheets are done last to allow you to check your comprehension of the material.
Don't wait until the last minute. You will need to go through these
topics repeatedly before the test. These are the basis of your
lecture notes. (It's like being able to ask the instructor to give the lecture
over and over until you get it!)
