105 GHC Students Graduate at Stafford Creek Corrections Center

105 Grays Harbor College students graduated at Stafford Creek Corrections Center in January. At the Commencement Ceremony on January 15, GHC awarded the following degrees and certificates:

  • 52 High School Diplomas and Equivalencies
  • 42 Construction Trade Apprenticeships
  • Five Associate of Applied Science in Business Management degrees
  • Three Welding Technology certificates
  • Three Associate of Arts – Direct Transfer Degrees

23 graduates were President’s Scholars, an honor given to students who graduated with a GPA of 3.5 or above.

"We are immensely proud of our recent graduates for their hard work, dedication, and remarkable achievements, and we look forward to seeing all the amazing things they will accomplish in the future,” said CJ Berndt, Associate Dean of Instruction at Stafford Creek.

During the ceremony, GHC President Dr. Carli Schiffner spoke to the graduates and their supporters. “It is with a full heart I say that we are so proud of you! You did it!” said Dr. Schiffner. “You have cleared milestones, and you have done it in the face of many obstacles. Your success in getting to this point is a testament to your perseverance, dedication, and determination. It is inspiring to see and hear your journeys. You are setting an example, providing hope of what can be done, and changing the direction of your lives and your family’s lives.”

Graduates also had the opportunity to speak at the ceremony, with speeches from representatives in the High School Diploma, Construction Trade Apprenticeship, and Business Management classes.

Before the ceremony concluded and graduates celebrated with loved ones, Dr. Schiffner thanked GHC’s instructors and staff at Stafford Creek. “Thank you to Kelly, Scott, Don, Nancy, Kari, Lance, Paula, Brandon, Kevin, Karen, Justin, William, and CJ. Thank you for your commitment to serving all of our students in Grays Harbor College’s district.”
