Charlie's Café Opens at GHC
Stacey Bonell and Candi Bachtell pose for a photo after the September Board of Trustees meeting, when it was announced that Bonell would operate Charlie’s Café.

Opening just in time for the first day of class on September 23, Charlie’s Café is bringing new food options to the Grays Harbor College campus and community in South Aberdeen!

Charlie’s Café is located next door to Wild Pines Coffee Co. in GHC’s new tulalW Student Center. Charlie’s Café and Wild Pines are both open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The new Charlie’s Café has a large menu that features breakfast and lunch options, including burgers, chicken strips, sandwiches, paninis, wraps, and more.

Stacey Bonell was selected to operate Charlie’s Café after a competitive search process.  Bonell has owned the Grizzly Den in Hoquiam for almost 25 years and also operates a food truck.

Bonell hired GHC students to work at Charlies and also brought Grizzly Den employees onboard, who will go back and forth between the two restaurants.

Looking ahead, Bonell is excited to offer special menus throughout the year.  “The week going into holiday closures, I want to do more comfort foods, so everyone gets to experience the home cooking, even if they don’t get to go home.”

Candie Bachtell, Culinary Arts Consultant at GHC, served as the lead on the search committee for Charlie’s Café. “Stacey has a lot of experience working with the young adult population and also with running a very successful business,” said Bachtell. “We are so excited to have her here on campus.”
