The Washington Student Experience Survey, is on its way to student inboxes on October 28th!

What is the WA Student Experience Survey and why it is it important?

  • The survey asks questions about student needs and desired resources.
  • Colleges in Washington and lawmakers in Olympia want this information to better understand the challenges faced by students so they can help them succeed.
  • When this survey was administered in fall 2022, GHC was able to leverage the results into grant funds to help support students. Students taking a few moments to share their real-life experiences will help GHC and other colleges improve access to basic needs services like food, housing, and more for all students.

How will students participate?

  • On October 28, all students in Washington (at public colleges and universities) will receive an email with a link to take the survey.  For GHC students, the email will be titled “GHC Needs Your Feedback to Support Students!” The survey from line will be “GHC Survey Partner” and the sender address will be noreply@qemailserver.com.
  • The survey will close on November 22.
  • Participation is entirely voluntary, and responses to the survey are confidential.
  • The survey invite was sent to students preferred email (the email they marked as preferred in ctcLink).
  • If you’re a student at GHC in fall 2024 and didn’t receive an invite, please email surveys@ghc.edu and we’ll look into it.

How long will the survey take?

  • The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete.

How will the survey responses be used?

Responses across the state will be summarized to identify trends and allow colleges and lawmakers to better understand and support the needs of students.

The data from the 2022 survey was used in several ways – including informing state-level policy and legislation. For Grays Harbor College, the results of the survey allowed us to receive funding for programs such as the Free/Reduced Price Meal Pilot (Food Grant) and Resource Navigator.

We are hopeful that the 2024 results will result in more funding opportunities form the state legislature to help us address student needs and provide additional resources for students.

Are there resources already available for GHC students?

Yes!
