GHC Nominates Three Students for All-Washington Academic Team

Grays Harbor College recently nominated students Erica Segura Flores, Tracie Hartnett, and Kalli Kounavong for the All-Washington Academic Team, a national recognition program sponsored by the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and college presidents. The Academic Team honors individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to success and achievement in academics and in their communities. Erica, Tracie, and Kalli will be recognized at the Washington Academic Team Ceremony in Olympia later this week.
Erica Segura Flores
Erica Segura Flores is an Engineering student and the founder of GHC’s Engineering Club. After earning an associate degree, Erica hopes to transfer to the University of Washington to pursue a bachelor and a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on renewable energy. Erica was one of 20 students from across the country selected to study abroad at the Hague University in the Netherlands and learn about the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.
Tracie Hartnett
After earning an associate degree in Psychology, Sociology, or Social Sciences, Tracie Hartnett plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree with the goal of finding a career where she can help individuals experiencing mental health challenges, homelessness, or in crisis. In addition to her coursework, Tracie completed the training to become a Certified Peer Counselor. Tracie currently works as the Outreach and Referral Coordinator in the Recovery Navigator Program at Destination Hope and Recovery.
Kalli Kounavong
Kalli Kounavong is pursuing a dual associate degree in Human Services, studying both the Generalist and the Substance Use Disorder tracks. Along with succeeding academically, Kalli has completed an internship at Beyond Survival, a nonprofit that advocates for survivors of sexual assault. Kalli hopes to put her education and experience to use helping the most vulnerable individuals in the community reach their goals as a counselor and advising those who need substance use disorder services.
