High School Art Show Winner's Announced

Grays Harbor College’s annual juried High School Art Show is currently on display in the Spellman Library gallery and includes 359 original works from students attending 6 area high schools.
A reception for the artists is planned for next Tuesday (May 7) from 6 to 7 p.m. Participating schools and art instructors are Harbor High, teacher Toni Knutz; Ocosta, Don Watkins; Aberdeen, Molly Houk, Richelle Barger and Tracy Ecklund; Elma, Maurrie Aukland; Montesano, Gretchen Ray and Oakville, James Wark.
Listed below are the first and second place awards in 6 categories, as judged by Roy Lowry and Doug Orr. There were also numerous honorable mentions.
In the 3-Dimensional category, Ben Velasco of Ocosta and Brianna Krohn of Aberdeen tied for first place; second place, Randie Stewart and Brianna Krohn, both of Aberdeen. Taking first in the 2-Dimensional Black & White category, Bode Knodel of Aberdeen; second place, Joshua Farrar, as well as an anonymous entry, also of Aberdeen.
First place in the 2-Dimensional Color category went to Brianna Krohn and Jax Eaton; second place, Joshua Farrar and Nicholas Davis, all of Aberdeen. Winning first in the Multi-Media division was Summer Dunston of Elma; second place, Stormie Bauer of Elma and Kelly Hewitt of Montesano.
Aberdeen art students Marithess Lang and Ayla Asas took first place in Jewelry; Tydus Morrow and Jennifer Parsons, both from Aberdeen, tied for second. In the Photography category, first place went to
Maddie Mikeska and Karla Hernandez, both of Aberdeen; second place, Tyler Jones of Ocosta and Caitlin Berg of Oakville.
The show continues through May 11.
