Each year, Grays Harbor College recognizes students with the highest grade point average (GPA) in the graduating class. Sara Burkhart is one of the Top Scholars in the Class of 2024, graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Sara graduated from Grays Harbor College with an Associate in Arts - Direct Transfer Agreement, Associate in Music - Direct Transfer Agreement, and a high school diploma.

Sara's dedication to her craft is evident through her involvement in various ensembles, including jazz band, jazz choir, symphony orchestra, pit orchestra, and the steel drum ensemble.

This fall, Sara will attend Baylor University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Piano Pedagogy. She plans to continue to graduate school for the same subject and aspires to teach at a college/university or independently.

Sara's advice for future students: "Every class/subject is easier and more enjoyable when you're interested in it. Find a way to connect what you're learning about to your life. Choose your professors wisely and build strong relationships with them. They make or break a course and are invaluable connections to have. Organize yourself, stop procrastinating, and make time for things that bring you joy."

Sara would like to thank to her parents and her amazing teachers, especially Dr. Dyer, Kira Miller, Joy Dorsch, Dr. Cavin, and Anita Plagge. "I appreciate you all so much; you're amazing!"
