Typical Duties

• Create media and reagents for the Microbiology lab following specific instructions
• Replenish lab tables with needed equipment
• Bring in and put away supplies
• Preparation of nonhazardous solutions
• Wash/clean lab ware
• Help supervisor/instructor as needed
• Set up and breakdown of Chemistry labs following specific instructions
• Plant and animal maintenance
• Handle preserved specimens

Employee Qualifications

• Lab experience in Microbiology, Biology and/or Chemistry preferred OR enrollment in one of these classes
• Knowledge or the ability to learn how to run an autoclave and how to weigh out media.
• Able to learn to make media and read recipe instructions
• Able to accurately follow instructions and ask questions if need be
• Able to work alone with minimal direct supervision
• Able to understand and work within a schedule to match the needs of the lab teaching segments
• Understands and follows all safety protocols.
