Social Media Ambassador & College Relations Assistant

Summary

The Social Media Ambassador/College Relations Assistant position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in social media marketing, advertising, and administrative work. This role involves creating content for social media, capturing events on camera, designing materials, assisting with reports, and performing administrative tasks like proofreading, data entry, filing, and organizing office materials.

Students in this position have also had the opportunity to learn about the organizational functions of the College and assist in detailed organizational projects such as cataloging assessment, archiving items of historic significance, and organizing/archiving other college artifacts. The position will report to the Director of marketing and College Relations and will work collaboratively with the entire IE&CR Team.

Typical Duties

  • Photograph/record campus events and programs
  • Create content for GHC's primary social media accounts (Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, Facebook posts, etc.)
  • Design marketing materials like flyers and graphics using Canva
  • Organize and archive College artifacts, historic documents, and other items of historic significance
  • Conduct web-based research (for example, looking up other  college  and  university  social  media accounts to provide inspiration for future GHC campaigns; or scrolling  Reels and Snapchat  to  find ideas for trending content)
  • Assist in the preparation and/or editing of documents, reports, and marketing material
  • Assist with the distribution, tracking, collection, and analysis of surveys
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations as well as charts and graphs
  • Proofread documents, perform data entry and perform other office duties including but not limited to note-taking, copying, and scanning of documents, and filing and organizing office materials.

Employee Qualifications 

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Desire to engage with fellow students on camera (attending and photographing GHC events, conducting student/alumni interviews, creating social media content)
  • Creative thinking and willingness to receive constructive feedback
  • Capable of using a computer and smartphone to create content
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Interest in social media, photography, writing, local history, and/or design
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to create structure for tracking key documents/materials and filing
  • Ability to interact productively with diverse individuals in an office environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
